Somali lawmaker Mohamed “Feisal” was killed Friday (December 6th) when a bomb detonated in his vehicle near Villa Somalia, fellow lawmakers said.
The bomb was attached to the seat of Warsame’s car, lawmaker Tahlil Abdi Mohamed told Sabahi. He was rushed to Madina Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Former lawmaker Amina Mohamed Mursal was in the car with Warsame and was injured in the attack. She is receiving treatment at Madina Hospital.
The bomb exploded outside the heavily fortified walls of a government building in one of the most secure areas in Mogadishu.
Warsame, who was very active in the parliament, was the chairman of the parliamentary committee on social affairs. He previously worked for the World Health Organisation before entering politics.
President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud and Prime Minister Abdi Farah Shirdon sent condolences to Warsame’s family and colleagues.
There was no immediate claim of responsibility.
